Privacy Policy

Vincent Crossley ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Club Laps mobile application for iOS and Android (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use our App.

Information Collection and Use

We do not collect any personal information.

Club Laps is designed to work entirely on your device. All data you create—including lap times, session history, driver information, car details, and track locations—is stored locally on your device: on iPhone and iPad using SwiftData (Apple's local data persistence framework), and on Android in a local SQLite database.

Data You Create

When you use Club Laps, you may create the following types of data:

• Lap Times: Timing data for your racing sessions
• Session Information: Date, duration, and results of your racing sessions
• Driver Profiles: Names and identifiers you assign to drivers
• Vehicle Information: Names, photos, and setup notes for your RC cars or other vehicles
• Track Information: Names, locations (if you choose to add them), and layout details for your racing locations
• Photos: Images you optionally attach to vehicles, tracks, or layouts

This data is stored only on your device. We do not have access to it, cannot see it, and do not transmit it anywhere.

Camera Usage

Club Laps requires access to your device's camera to detect when vehicles cross the start/finish line during timing sessions. Camera feed processing happens entirely on your device in real-time and is not recorded, saved, or transmitted anywhere. The app only records lap timestamps—not video or images—unless you explicitly choose to take a photo for a car or track profile.

Location Services

On iOS, if you choose to use the track search feature, Club Laps may request access to your device location to help you find nearby hobby shops, RC tracks, or addresses. Location data is used solely for search purposes and is not collected, stored, or transmitted by us. Location information you manually add to tracks (such as addresses) is stored locally on your device only. The Android app does not request location permission at all.

Data Export

Club Laps allows you to export your session data (lap times, session history) to standard file formats (such as CSV or JSON) for your own use. When you export data, it is saved to your device or shared through your device's standard share sheet (iOS or Android). We do not receive copies of exported data.

Analytics and App Improvement

Club Laps uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (both provided by Google) on iOS and Android to understand how users interact with the app and to diagnose crashes. This helps us improve features, fix bugs, and understand which parts of the app are most valuable to our users.

What Firebase Collects:

• App usage statistics: Which screens you visit, which features you use (e.g., "race started," "data exported")
• Device information: Device model, iOS or Android version, screen size (but not device serial number or advertising ID)
• Crash reports (Crashlytics): If the app crashes, technical information about what went wrong
• Performance data: How quickly screens load, app launch times

What Firebase Does NOT Collect:

• ❌ Your lap times or racing session data
• ❌ Names of drivers, cars, or tracks you create
• ❌ Photos you attach to cars or tracks
• ❌ Your location or track addresses
• ❌ Any personally identifiable information
• ❌ Your device's advertising identifier (IDFA / Android Advertising ID)

All analytics data is anonymous. We cannot identify individual users or link analytics data back to you personally. Firebase Analytics is GDPR compliant and used by millions of apps worldwide.

Opting Out of Analytics:

On iPhone or iPad, you can opt out of sharing analytics with app developers in your device settings:

• Go to Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements
• Toggle off "Share iPhone & iPad Analytics"

On Android, there is no system-wide switch for app analytics. All data we receive is anonymous and cannot be linked to you. If you would still prefer we receive no analytics from your device, email us at info@clublaps.com and we will help.

No Advertising or Tracking Networks:

Club Laps does not use advertising networks, tracking pixels, or third-party services that track you across apps or websites. Firebase is used solely for app improvement—not advertising.

Website Analytics

This website (clublaps.com) is separate from the App and uses Google Analytics to understand how visitors use the site — which pages are viewed, how visitors arrive, and general engagement. Google Analytics uses cookies and may collect your approximate location (derived from IP address, not stored in identifiable form), browser and device type, and pages visited. This data is not linked to any data you create within the App.

You can opt out using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on or by blocking cookies in your browser. Learn more in Google's Privacy Policy.

No Accounts or Authentication

Club Laps does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or payment information (the app is free).

No Cloud Sync or Backups

Currently, Club Laps does not offer cloud synchronization or cloud backups. All data remains on your device. If you delete the app or reset your device without backing up, your data will be lost. We recommend using the export feature periodically to preserve your data.

Children's Privacy

Club Laps does not knowingly collect any information from anyone, including children under the age of 13. Because we don't collect data at all, the app is safe for users of all ages.

Third-Party Services

Club Laps integrates with the following third-party services:

• Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics by Google: For anonymous usage analytics and crash reporting on iOS and Android. Firebase's privacy policy: firebase.google.com/support/privacy
• Google Analytics: On this website (clublaps.com) only, for visitor and engagement analytics. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy

The iOS app also uses Apple's built-in frameworks (SwiftUI, SwiftData, AVFoundation, CoreLocation), which are governed by Apple's privacy policies. The Android app uses Android's built-in camera (CameraX) and text-to-speech frameworks, governed by Google's privacy policies.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

If we make any changes to this Privacy Policy in the future, we will update this page and the "Last updated" date at the top. If we ever change our data collection practices, we will prominently notify users within the app and update this policy accordingly.

Your Data Rights

Because all your data is stored locally on your device, you have complete control:

• Access: You can view all your data within the app at any time
• Export: You can export your data using the app's export feature
• Delete: You can delete individual sessions, drivers, cars, or tracks within the app, or delete all data at once in Settings
• Complete Removal: Uninstalling the app will remove all data from your device
